Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How can we help you?

We welcome your questions because it's crucial to us that you feel informed about your oral health and treatment options. Some frequently asked questions are listed below, but if you don't find what you're looking for here, please don't hesitate to contact us.

At Moorpark Dental Studio, our goal is to make quality dentistry accessible to everyone who wants to maintain a healthy smile.

We'll Help with Your Dental Insurance

If you're insured, we are in-network with Delta Dental and Cigna and out-of-network for all other PPO insurance plans. However, we are happy to file all claims on behalf of our patients with reimbursement directly to them.

Our dental team will review your plan then work hard to make sure you get the maximum benefit you're entitled to. They also obtain pre-treatment estimates that are as accurate as possible so that you know what to expect and can plan your budget accordingly.

We Offer Financing Through CareCredit

If you're uninsured, we also offer financing through CareCredit, which works like a credit card for your health and wellness needs. CareCredit offers no-interest financing that allows you to cover the cost of treatment when you need it. You then pay off the balance in monthly installments that are easier to fit into your budget.

Another option is for us to perform your treatment in stages, making it easier for you to plan your budget around dental costs.

We Help Make Dentistry Affordable

Dr. Batlle understands that dental costs don't always fit easily into your budget, especially when they're unexpected. Rest assured that we will do whatever we can to help you benefit from quality dentistry.

General Dentistry

The difference is like night and day! A custom-fitted night guard is just that; it’s prepared specifically for your smile and your smile alone.

Custom Nightguards for Teeth Grinding

Store-bought generic nightguards are, well, generic. They are a one-size-fits-all solution that, in the end, may not work very well because the fit isn’t customized for anyone’s smile!

You only get one set of permanent teeth, so investing in a custom nightguard to protect them makes good sense. The forces of teeth grinding can be quite destructive and lead to worn, cracked, or broken teeth.

However, a sturdy nightguard customized for your smile provides a perfect fit and stands up well to the excessive forces caused by teeth grinding. A custom-fitted nightguard is also more comfortable, so there’s a better chance it will end up in your mouth instead of sitting on your nightstand!

Protect Your Smile with Custom Mouth Guards

Along the same lines, we also customize sports mouth guards at our Moorpark, CA dental office. Dental injuries are common with sports activities, and a generic “boil and bite” mouthguard won’t provide the same protection as a mouthguard customized for your smile.

A well-fitting mouthguard is also more likely to end up protecting your teeth than sitting unused in the bottom of your gym bag.

Custom Nightguards in Moorpark, CA

Fitting you for a custom nightguard or mouthguard is as easy as taking impressions of your teeth and sending them to a custom dental lab. Please call Moorpark Dental Studio to get started!

Crowns & Bridges

Dental crowns and tooth fillings have lifespans that depend on the material used and how well you care for them and your oral health.

How to Make Your Crowns and Fillings Last

A ceramic or zirconia crown has an average lifespan of 10-15 years. However, when properly cared for, some dental crowns last decades. Tooth fillings made of composite resin can last between 7-10 years.

The type of materials we use for crowns and fillings doesn't always have as much impact, however, as how well you care for them every day. Numerous factors affect the lifespan of your crown or filling, and you have control over most of them.

Practice Consistent Dental Hygiene

Brush twice at least twice a day and floss once at home. Staying current with exams and cleanings allows our dentist and hygienist to look for and treat cavities and gum disease that could threaten your tooth restorations.

Makes Sensible Food Choices

Consuming too many sweet or acidic foods like fruit juices can put your general oral health and your restorations at risk. Avoid those as well as hard, crunchy, or crispy foods that could damage a crown or filling. Chewing on ice can damage both your teeth and your restorations, so don't do it.

Address Teeth Grinding or Bruxism

A teeth grinding habit or bruxism is destructive to your teeth and your dental work. The simplest solution is a custom night guard worn during sleep to protect your teeth, crowns, and fillings from damage.

Full & Partial Dentures

We always recommend that our patients replace a missing tooth as soon as possible. There are several excellent tooth-replacement options available, so you can choose one that best fits your budget.

Benefits of Replacing Missing Teeth

There are several oral health benefits to replacing missing teeth:

  • Improve chewing function
  • Reduce the load on other teeth
  • Prevent neighboring teeth from shifting
  • Help maintain facial structure
  • Restore your smile's aesthetics

Tooth Replacement Solutions for Every Need

Everything about you is unique, including your oral condition, your preferences, and your budgetary needs. Fortunately, we offer tooth replacements to fit every need:

Removable complete dentures: An affordable solution that will give you a full set of teeth in a matter of weeks.
Fixed dental bridges: If you have one or two consecutive missing teeth, a dental bridge fills the gap in your smile and uses adjacent teeth for support.
Dental implants: Want a more stable solution than removable dentures and don't mind waiting for a few months to complete the process? Dental implants restore function and appearance and are the closest thing we have to natural teeth.

Which Tooth Replacement Is Righ for You?

If you have missing teeth and aren't sure which of these options is right for you, please call our Moorpark, CA dental office for an appointment. Dr. Batlle will meet with you, perform an exam, and make recommendations to give you back your confident smile.

Root Canals

One thing all our patients have in common is that they want comfortable dentistry! With every procedure we perform at Moorpark Dental Studio, whether it’s a tooth filling or root canal, we take the same care to ensure that you experience nothing but excellent dentistry.

A Calm and Comfortable Dental Office

We set the tone for a comfortable, stress-free experience from the first moment our front office team members greet you with a warm smile. Our leading-edge dental technology improves your comfort and our efficiency during procedures so you can spend less time in the dental chair.

Electric handpieces minimize uncomfortable noises and vibrations, and rotary endodontic technology makes root canals more comfortable than you thought possible.

Gentle Sedation Dentistry

Do you feel anxious about dental treatment and need some help relaxing? Dr. Batlle can prescribe a sedative that you take about an hour before your appointment. With the help of a designated driver, you’ll arrive at our office feeling calm, relaxed, and a little drowsy.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Teeth consist of three layers; a hard outer layer called enamel, a softer layer beneath called dentin, and the innermost part called the pulp.

How Tooth Cavities Form

Tooth decay occurs when you don’t routinely brush and floss to remove the sticky, bacteria-filled film on your teeth called plaque. Every time you eat or drink something sweet, bacteria feed on the sugar (carbohydrates) and create acid.

This process is repeated every time you eat or drink something sugary or starchy during the day. The repeated acid attacks gradually eat away at tooth enamel and create a hole in your tooth called a cavity.

We Offer Tooth-Colored Fillings

At Moorpark Dental Studio, we offer white tooth-colored fillings for patients with cavities. Tooth-colored filling material uses a composite resin material that looks very similar to tooth enamel and can be customized to match your tooth color.

Our Moorpark, CA dentist Dr. Gury Batlle chooses composite dental fillings because they’re long-lasting and help us preserve tooth structure; our patients like them because they create a seamless, virtually invisible tooth repair.
